Former Justice B S Indrakala
Justice Bangalore Shamachar Indrakala began her legal career in 1977, working under the aegis of Senior Advocate T. V. Krishna Rao in the district courts of Mysore, India. During this time, she gained experience in areas of civil, criminal, and labour law. Over the years Justice B S Indrakala went on to practice law in the Bangalore City Civil Court, and the High Court of Karnataka state. Justice Indrakala was recognized not only as Bangalore’s leading woman attorney, but as a practitioner of law dedicated to maintaining the rights and liberties of individual citizens.
In 1993, she became just the second woman district judge in the Karnataka judiciary, a position she held until 2012. Among her more recent positions was president of the State Consumers Dispute Redressal Commission.
Judge B S Indrakala received her law degree from the University of Mysore’s Sharada Vilas Law College in 1976. She also holds a bachelor of science from the university’s Maharani College.
